How can I ask a question by voice message in the app or chat?

Biblical topics 4 min read updated 25 April 2026

Today many people look for answers to spiritual and practical questions through the internet and various apps. Sometimes it is more convenient not to type text, but simply to say your question aloud. This is natural: God created human beings as creatures who communicate with words. In the Bible we see that both people and prophets often addressed God with their voices. Therefore, the very idea of asking questions by voice is something very natural for human communication.

Why it is easier for people to speak than to write

Speech is one of the most natural ways to express thoughts. It is often easier for a person to formulate a question out loud than to spend a long time typing it. Modern technologies take this into account: many apps and devices allow you to dictate text using a microphone.

Usually it works like this: a person taps the microphone icon on the keyboard or in the app, says the question, and the system automatically converts speech into text. After that, the message is sent just like an ordinary written message.

Although the technology may differ on various devices, the principle remains the same—voice is converted into text. For example:

• on a smartphone, the microphone on the keyboard is used;
• in some apps there is a separate voice input button;
• on computers there are built-in dictation features.

This makes communication faster and more convenient, especially when you need to ask a long question or when typing is inconvenient.

Biblical principle: God hears the human voice

Interestingly, the Bible itself often emphasizes the significance of the spoken word. People addressed God aloud, and the Lord heard them.

Jesus said:
“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you” (Matthew 7:7).

This principle shows that asking questions and seeking answers is normal. God does not forbid people to ask. On the contrary, He invites us to seek the truth.

The apostle James adds:
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach” (James 1:5).

This means that the very act of asking is an important part of spiritual growth. A person develops when asking questions and seeking understanding.

Technology as a communication tool

Today, technology helps people communicate faster than ever before. Voice input is simply a tool. It does not change the essence of communication, but only makes it more convenient.

If the interface supports voice input, you usually need to do the following:

• tap the microphone icon near the input field;
• say your question aloud;
• check the text recognized by the system;
• send the message.

As a result, your voice is turned into a regular text question that can be read and answered.

This method is especially useful when a person is traveling, their hands are busy, or it is simply easier to express a thought verbally.

What this teaches from a spiritual perspective

Although voice input is a technological feature, it reminds us of an important spiritual principle: God values a person’s sincere appeal. It is not the form of the question that matters most, but the sincerity of the heart.

Ellen White wrote that God hears every sincere prayer and answers those who seek Him with an open heart. She emphasized that heaven is attentive to every appeal of the believer.

Therefore, whether it is a text message, a spoken prayer, or a conversation with another person, the main thing is the desire to seek truth and understanding.

Practical application

If you want to ask a question by voice in an app or on a website, try the following:

• tap the microphone icon on your phone keyboard;
• use the voice input button if it is available in the app;
• on a computer, enable the system dictation function.

After that, your voice will automatically be turned into a text question.

But there is also a spiritual lesson. Just as we can speak to technology with our voice, so we can also speak to God. The Bible invites every person to come to Him with questions, requests, and gratitude.

When we seek wisdom, God promises to answer. Therefore, do not be afraid to ask questions—neither to people nor to God. It is through sincere seeking that truth is revealed.

The mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is to convey the message of God's great love for every person, leading them to accept Jesus as their personal Savior, which in turn motivates every believer to make changes in their own lives and serve God and their neighbors.
