The fourth commandment of the unchanging Law of God requires the observance of the seventh day, the Sabbath, as a day of rest, a day of special worship and service in accordance with the teachings and example of Jesus Christ, the Lord of the Sabbath. Saturday is a day of joyful communion with God and with each other. It is a symbol of our salvation in Christ, a sign of our sanctification, our faithfulness, and a foretaste of our eternal future life in the Kingdom of God. The Sabbath is God's permanent symbol of the eternal covenant between Him and His people.
