During the recent six days of creation, the Lord created \u201cthe heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that in them is,\u201d and on the seventh day He \u201crested.\u201d Thus, the Lord established the Sabbath as an eternal memorial of His work, accomplished and completed during the six literal days that, together with the Sabbath, made up the week we know today. The first man and woman were created in the image of God, as the crowning glory of creation, given dominion over the world and the responsibility to care for it.
