These desires themselves do not make a person sinful or unworthy. The problem arises when we try to get what we need at the cost of our own dignity, another person’s freedom, or when we make one person the only support of our life. Yet even then, God’s mercy does not disappear. You are not defined by your worst decisions.

Your honesty is the beginning of healing

You acknowledge that you longed for love, money, power, entertainment, approval; that it is hard for you to forgive; that you see your mistakes. This may hurt, but such honesty is not proof of hopelessness. On the contrary, it can become the beginning of real change. An indifferent heart does not ask, “Have I done harm? Can I become better?” Your question shows that your conscience is alive and that you seek the light.

Biblical repentance is not self-hatred and not the verdict, “I am ruined forever.” It is an honest confession of sin before God, accepting His forgiveness, and gradually learning a new way of life.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

The Lord does not deny your actions, but neither does He allow your past to define your worth forever. Through Jesus, a person can receive not only forgiveness, but also a new heart, a new direction, and hope.

About the pain of the person who left

When a loved one does not want to return, it truly feels like a loss: you grieve not only for that person, but also for the shared future you imagined. There is no need to belittle this pain with phrases like “you just need to let go.” You may cry, grieve, and speak to God without embellishment: “I am lonely, I am not coping, I want him to come back.”

But love cannot be forced. Another person has the freedom to say “no,” and respecting that boundary is painful, but right. Your task now is not to bring him back at any cost, but not to lose yourself in the struggle for someone who is not choosing the relationship. Your life does not end where someone stopped being by your side.

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Ps 34:18

God is not ashamed of your tears. He does not say that the loss is unimportant; He promises to be near precisely when the heart is broken.

You do not need to be brilliant to be worthy of good

The phrase “I am not a genius, I am a human being” can become not a defeat, but a release. You do not have to be bright, flawless, exceptionally intelligent, or always strong to deserve a home, friendship, work, respect, and love. Human worth is not measured by popularity, income, connections, or someone’s willingness to stay by your side.

Wisdom usually grows not out of perfection, but out of humility: to admit that you do not know; to ask for help; to correct what you can; not to repeat a destructive step. Ellen White emphasized that Christ does not reject those who come to Him with their weakness, but gives strength for a new life. Grace does not make mistakes unimportant—it makes change possible.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Cor. 12:9

Your weakness is not the final description of you. It can become the place where you learn to accept the support of God and of people.

Forgiveness does not mean approving evil

It is hard for you to forgive—and this too is worth acknowledging before God. Forgiveness does not mean calling hurtful behavior normal, forgetting everything in one day, or allowing a person back into closeness again. Sometimes safe boundaries are necessary. Forgiveness means gradually giving up the right to revenge and entrusting justice to God so that resentment does not rule your life.

Start even with a short honest prayer: “God, I cannot forgive yet, but I want to want forgiveness. Help me.” God works even with such a small willingness.

“Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

A practical step for today

Today, do not try to solve your whole life at once. Do three simple things: do not write to the person who clearly does not want a relationship; write or call one safe person to whom you can honestly say that you are struggling; take care of the basics—water, food, sleep, and a short walk. If despair becomes unbearable, thoughts of harming yourself appear, or you cannot function, immediately contact a loved one, a psychologist, a crisis service, or emergency help in your country.

You are not “very bad.” You are a wounded person who needs forgiveness, support, boundaries, and time.
