It is God\u2019s order. A minister gives his time, strength, knowledge, and life to the spiritual care of the congregation; therefore, the church has the responsibility to support his ministry. At the same time, this principle never gives permission for greed, pressure on people, or a luxurious lifestyle.<\/p>\n<h2>The Lord commanded that ministers be supported<\/h2>\n<p>Paul speaks not merely of a possibility, but of a divine ordinance:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cEven so the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should live from the gospel.\u201d <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+Corinthians+9:14&#038;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Cor 9:14<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This means that a minister who devotes himself to preaching, pastoral care, teaching, and mission has the right to receive material support. In the Old Testament, tithes and offerings supported the Levites and priests who were occupied with service in the sanctuary. The New Testament applies this principle to ministers of the gospel.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cDo you not know that those who minister the holy things eat of the things of the temple, and those who serve at the altar partake of the offerings of the altar?\u201d <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+Corinthians+9:13&#038;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Cor 9:13<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Therefore, tithe should not be viewed as payment for religious services. It is a portion of our means dedicated to God, intended to support gospel ministry and the spread of God\u2019s Word.<\/p>\n<h2>Why people criticize ministers over money<\/h2>\n<p>Most often, the reason lies not only in the minister himself, but in a person\u2019s attitude toward money. Money can stir fear, suspicion, and the desire to control everything. It can be difficult for a person to trust God with what he has earned. Christ warned that material possessions easily become a rival to God in the heart.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cNo one can serve two masters\u2026 You cannot serve God and mammon.\u201d <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+6:24&#038;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matt 6:24<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Therefore, when the church speaks about tithe or financial support for the pastor, some immediately see self-interest or manipulation in it. But the right question should be this: is God\u2019s order being used honestly, transparently, and responsibly? If so, supporting ministry is an expression of faith and participation in the church\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n<h2>A minister bears spiritual responsibility<\/h2>\n<p>Paul compares a minister to a soldier. A soldier should not have to provide for himself while fulfilling military duty, because his task is to focus on his service. In the same way, a worker of the gospel is called to devote himself to God\u2019s work.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWho ever serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? Or who tends a flock and does not drink of the milk of the flock?\u201d <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+Corinthians+9:7&#038;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Cor 9:7<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That is precisely why ministers often become the object of special attacks. The enemy of souls seeks to weaken trust in spiritual leadership, sow suspicion, divide the congregation, and discourage people from supporting the mission. But the church should neither blindly idealize leaders nor baselessly humiliate them. What is needed are prayer, wisdom, biblical verification of facts, and love.<\/p>\n<h2>Dishonest ministers do not cancel God\u2019s principle<\/h2>\n<p>Sadly, at times ministers themselves give occasion for stumbling through dishonesty, domineering behavior, lack of transparency in handling funds, or a desire for wealth. Such cases bring pain to the church and harm the witness of the gospel. Yet the error of an individual does not make God\u2019s design for supporting ministry wrong.<\/p>\n<p>A pastor or church worker must remember that he is an example to the congregation. Neither ostentatious poverty nor demonstrative luxury is fitting for him. Christian simplicity, diligence, accountability, and a sacrificial spirit protect the minister from temptation and strengthen the church\u2019s trust. Ellen White repeatedly emphasized that God\u2019s workers must be faithful stewards, and church funds must be used economically, honestly, and for their intended purpose.<\/p>\n<h2>How the church should relate to ministers<\/h2>\n<p>The Bible calls us to respect those who labor spiritually, but this is respect not without critical thinking, rather in a spirit of responsibility and brotherly love.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAnd we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work\u2019s sake.\u201d <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=1+Thessalonians+5:12-13&#038;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1 Thess 5:12-13<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A healthy congregation needs financial transparency, biblical management of tithes, proper support for pastors, and gracious dialogue. Gossip or accusations should not be spread without evidence. If questions arise, they should be asked respectfully and honest answers should be sought according to the established order of the church.<\/p>\n<h2>Conclusion and practical application<\/h2>\n<p>God commanded that the preachers of the gospel should live from the gospel. This is not a privilege for enrichment, but provision that makes it possible to devote themselves fully to God\u2019s mission. A minister must be honest, modest, and sacrificial; the church must support him, pray for him, and responsibly oversee the use of dedicated funds. Practically speaking: examine your attitude toward tithe, do not rush to condemn ministers, pray for them, and support transparent, faithful, and godly ministry in your
