At the same time, God revealed His true nature: He did not answer violence with violence, but gave Himself for sinners.<\/p>\n

What does \u201cjudgment of this world\u201d mean?<\/h2>\n

When people crucified Christ, it became clear what a heart that rejects the light leads to. But the judgment also revealed God\u2019s righteousness: God does not justify evil, yet He saves the sinner through the sacrifice of His Son. Satan \u201cbruised\u201d Christ through suffering and death, but Christ \u201ccrushed the serpent\u2019s head,\u201d because He destroyed the basis of his accusations against God. The enemy claimed that God is selfish, harsh, and unjust. Golgotha showed the opposite: God so loves the world that He Himself enters into humanity\u2019s pain and takes the burden of sin upon Himself.<\/p>\n

How was Satan \u201ccast out\u201d?<\/h2>\n

Satan was not physically destroyed immediately after the cross, since evil still operates in the world. But he was \u201ccast out\u201d in a legal, moral, and cosmic sense: his character was finally exposed before the universe. The apostle Paul speaks of Christ\u2019s victory over the powers of evil as a public shaming of the enemy.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.\u201d Colossians 2:15<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ellen White, in the book The Desire of Ages, emphasizes that the death of Jesus revealed to heavenly beings and the unfallen universe the true nature of Satan\u2019s rebellion. Before Golgotha, Satan tried to disguise his intentions, but the cross exposed him as the murderer of the Son of God. Therefore, the cross is not only the place of forgiveness for humanity, but also the center of the great controversy, where God\u2019s character was vindicated before all creation.<\/p>\n

The victory has already been won, but the struggle still continues<\/h2>\n

Christ won the victory on the cross, but we still live in a time when the consequences of sin are felt: suffering, temptation, injustice, and death. This does not mean that Satan has final authority. It means that God allows history to ripen to its full conclusion, so that all may see the difference between His kingdom of love and the kingdom of selfishness. The book of Revelation shows that God\u2019s people overcome not by their own strength, but by the blood of the Lamb.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives even unto death.\u201d Rev. 12:11<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Therefore, Jesus\u2019 words mean this: the cross became the judgment of the sinful world order, the exposure of Satan, and the beginning of the final restoration of God\u2019s rule. For us, this is good news: evil may seem strong, but its sentence has already been passed.
