The Bible speaks about the great tribulation in more than one place, presenting it as the final time of special testing.<\/strong> In prophecy, this theme is revealed through the words of Jesus, the book of Daniel, and Revelation, where tribulation is connected with persecution, God\u2019s judgment, and the deliverance of the faithful.<\/em><\/p>\n

When people ask where else in the Bible the \u201cgreat tribulation\u201d is mentioned, they most often mean not only the phrase itself, but the entire biblical theme of the final crisis before the Second Coming of Christ. In the Adventist understanding, this is not simply a period of human suffering, but a special segment of history when the conflict between Christ and the forces of evil becomes evident to the whole world. At the same time, Scripture emphasizes that God does not abandon His people even in the darkest hour.<\/p>\n

Jesus\u2019 words about unprecedented tribulation<\/h2>\n

The best-known text is found in Christ\u2019s discourse on the Mount of Olives. Jesus describes events that have a dual application: a near one\u2014to the destruction of Jerusalem, and a distant one\u2014to the end of the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect\u2019s sake those days will be shortened.\u201d Matt. 24:21\u201322<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The Gospel of Mark says similarly:<\/p>\n

\u201cFor in those days there will be tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the creation which God created until this time, nor ever shall be. And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect\u2019s sake, whom He chose, He shortened the days.\u201d Mark 13:19\u201320<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Here it is important to see two emphases. First, the tribulation will be real and extraordinary. Second, God\u2019s people will not be forgotten: the Lord controls the limits of this trial. For Adventists, these words are connected with the final global crisis, when the question of faithfulness to God, His law, and worship will become central.<\/p>\n

Daniel\u2019s prophecy about the \u201ctime of trouble\u201d<\/h2>\n

Another key text is found in the book of Daniel. Although the exact phrase \u201cgreat tribulation\u201d is not always used there, the meaning is very close.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt that time Michael shall stand up, the great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation, even to that time. And at that time your people shall be delivered, every one who is found written in the book.\u201d Dan 12:1<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In Adventist interpretation, Michael is Christ, who stands up for His people. The text does not merely frighten us with future oppression; it gives hope. The darkest time in history is accompanied by heavenly intercession and the promise of salvation for those whose names are written in the book of life.<\/p>\n

That is why the great tribulation in the Bible is not only a theme of suffering, but also a theme of faithfulness, purification, and God\u2019s final intervention. Ellen White often connected this period with \u201cthe time of Jacob\u2019s trouble,\u201d when God\u2019s people will depend deeply on the Lord, yet will not be forsaken.<\/p>\n

Revelation and end-time testing<\/h2>\n

The book of Revelation completes the picture. In one place, the expression \u201cgreat tribulation\u201d has a local meaning\u2014as a judgment on those who do not repent.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds.\u201d Rev. 2:22<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Here the message is addressed to Thyatira, but the principle itself is important: apostasy leads to judgment. Revelation shows that the final crisis will also have a spiritual nature\u2014it will be a test of faithfulness to the truth.<\/p>\n

Another important passage describes those who passed through the great trial and remained faithful to God:<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are the ones who came out of the great tribulation, and washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.\u201d Rev. 7:14<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This text is especially valuable because it shows the result: God\u2019s people come out of tribulation not by their own strength, but through the blood of the Lamb. Victory belongs not to the strongest, but to those who trusted in Christ.<\/p>\n

John also speaks of himself as a fellow partaker in suffering:<\/p>\n

\u201cI, John, both your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was on the island that is called Patmos for the word of God and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.\u201d Rev. 1:9<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This reminds us that for the church, tribulation is not only a future theme. God\u2019s faithful people in every age have gone through oppression, but the final tribulation will have a worldwide and climactic character.<\/p>\n

Other biblical descriptions of the final crisis<\/h2>\n

The theme of the great tribulation is also connected with other prophecies, even if the term itself is not used there. For example, Jeremiah writes about an extraordinarily severe time:<\/p>\n

\u201cAlas! For that day is great, so that none is like it; and it is the time of Jacob\u2019s trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.\u201d Jer. 30:7<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This verse is often seen as a foreshadowing of the final testing of God\u2019s people. Likewise, the book of Revelation describes a worldwide conflict over worship, God\u2019s commandments, and faithfulness to Jesus, which directly relates to the final time of tribulation.<\/p>\n

In Adventist eschatology, the great tribulation is closely connected with the world\u2019s final warning, the close of probation, and the seven last plagues. But even in this context, the main theme of Scripture is not fear, but readiness, faithfulness, and hope for deliverance in Christ.<\/p>\n

What this means for us today<\/h2>\n

The Bible speaks about the great tribulation in Matt. 24:21\u201322, Mark 13:19\u201320, Dan. 12:1, Rev. 2:22, Rev. 7:14, and also thematically in Jer. 30:7 and other prophecies. Taken together, all these texts show that a serious trial lies ahead, but God knows His own and will protect those who belong to Him.<\/p>\n

The practical conclusion is simple: we should prepare for the great tribulation not through panic, but through daily faithfulness to Christ. We should strengthen our prayer life, study Scripture, live in obedience to God\u2019s commandments, and hold fast to Jesus as the only Savior.
