There were no windows in the Holy Place, so the only light was the lampstand. This vividly showed that without God a person remains in darkness, but with Him receives understanding, direction, and hope.<\/p>\n \u201cYour word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.\u201d Ps. 119:105<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n This text helps us understand the meaning of the sanctuary lampstand: God\u2019s people live not by their own wisdom, but by the light of God\u2019s Word. He is the light of the world and the One who reveals the Father. Therefore, the lampstand can be understood as a type of Christ and His saving presence.<\/p>\n \u201cThen Jesus spoke to them again, saying: I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.\u201d John 8:12<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Through Christ, the believer receives not only knowledge of the truth, but the very \u201clight of life.\u201d This especially harmonizes with the Adventist teaching about the heavenly ministry of Jesus as our High Priest. The earthly lampstand was a shadow of a greater spiritual reality: in Christ, God illuminates the way of salvation.<\/p>\n The lampstand in the Holy Place of the sanctuary also speaks to the modern Christian. We live in a world of moral and spiritual darkness, where human ideas often replace God\u2019s Word.
