God’s name is not mentioned directly in it, but His providence is visible in nearly every event. In Esther 7:3, the turning point of the whole story arrives: after fasting, inner struggle, and careful steps, the queen finally reveals her true request to the king. She does not ask for honors or privileges. Her request concerns what matters most — life.

“Then Queen Esther answered and said, ‘If I have found favor in your sight, O king, and if it pleases the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request!’” Esth 7:3

Context: how Esther came to this moment

Before this, Haman had obtained a royal decree for the destruction of the Jews in the Persian Empire. The situation was tragic: even the queen, though in the palace, was not safe. She had concealed her Jewish origin, and revealing the truth could cost her life. That is why Esther does not act hastily. She prepares herself spiritually and practically.

Mordecai reminds her that her high position may not have been given by chance:

“Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esth 4:14

In response, Esther makes a decision marked by faith and complete surrender:

“Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Susa, and fast for me… Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!” Esther 4:16

Therefore, Esther 7:3 is not a sudden emotional outburst. It is the fruit of fasting, prayer, patience, and deep inner resolve. From an Adventist perspective, this passage reminds us that God often prepares His people for decisive moments through trials, waiting, and faithfulness in small things.

Wisdom in Esther’s words

The phrase “If I have found favor… and if it pleases the king” sounds very cautious. This is not weakness, but wisdom. Esther understands the circumstances of the court and speaks to the king in a way that will be heard and not rejected. She does not begin by accusing Haman. First, she opens her heart and shows the seriousness of the situation.

This is an important spiritual lesson: God’s people are called not only to speak the truth, but also to do so with discernment. In Scripture we see that gentleness and a wise word can open doors where harshness would only close them. Esther combines humility with firmness. She speaks respectfully to the king, yet does not retreat from the heart of the matter.

Ellen White repeatedly emphasized that in times of crisis God gives His children both courage and tact. Esther’s example shows that true faith is not reckless. It acts decisively, but in God’s time and in God’s way.

“My life and my people”: the power of intercession

The most moving words of the verse are “my life… and my people.” Esther does not separate herself from her people. Although she lived in the palace and could have sought personal safety, she consciously identifies herself with those who are doomed to die. This is a picture of true intercession.

Here we see an important biblical principle: God’s people are not called to be saved one by one in isolation. We are called to stand for one another, not to be ashamed of our spiritual identity, and to remain faithful even when it costs us dearly.

This theme also reminds us of Christ’s ministry as our Intercessor. Although Esther is not a direct messianic prophecy, in her action we can see a reflection of the character of Jesus, who stood with humanity in its danger. The Bible says:

“Therefore He is also able to save completely those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” Heb 7:25

Esther risks her own life to plead for others. Christ gave His life to save the world. For the Christian, this is a powerful call: not to live only for oneself, but to become a blessing and protection for others.

God’s providence in the book of Esther

Although God’s name is not mentioned directly in the book, the believing reader sees His hand in everything: from Esther’s rise to the royal house to the king’s sleepless night and Haman’s final exposure. That is why this passage is often viewed as an example of God’s providence in times of crisis.

The Bible teaches that God can work even when His presence is not obvious:

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Rom 8:28

The story of Esther is especially dear to Seventh-day Adventists also because it shows the faithfulness of God’s people under threat and under a state decree. In a broader sense, it reminds us of the last days, when those faithful to God will also pass through pressure, fear, and trial. But, as in Esther’s day, the Lord does not abandon His people.

Practical meaning for us today

Esther 7:3 teaches not only history, but also a Christian way of life. First, when crisis comes, we must not panic, but seek God in fasting and prayer. Second, faith does not exclude wisdom: sometimes the right time and the right words matter greatly. Third, a person of God does not think only about personal safety. He or she intercedes for others.

Scripture calls us to be courageous:

“Be strong and courageous, do not fear or be afraid of them; for the Lord your God Himself goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Deut. 31:6

So, Esther 7:3 is a verse about courage, intercession, and God’s invisible hand. Esther became the voice of the condemned because she understood that her position was given not only for herself, but for service. In the same way, we should ask ourselves: for whom has God placed me here and now? The practical application is simple: pray before important decisions, speak the truth with wisdom, and do not be afraid to stand up for those who need help.

# Есфирь 7:3
³ И отвечала царица Есфирь и сказала: если я нашла благоволение в очах твоих, царь, и если царю благоугодно, то да будут дарованы мне жизнь моя, по желанию моему, и народ мой, по просьбе моей!
145
post-9402","answers","type-answers","status-publish","hentry","answer_topic-other
["GET
