This expression appears immediately after Christ\u2019s Ascension:<\/p>\n

Luke writes in Greek for an audience well acquainted with Jewish customs. He needed to convey briefly how close the Mount of Olives was to Jerusalem. Instead of giving exact stadia or steps, he used a common expression that all his readers immediately understood.<\/p>\n

This term comes not from the Bible, but from Jewish oral tradition. The rabbis, wishing to protect the commandment of rest, tried to define how far a person could walk on Sabbath without violating its spirit. They based this on the verse:<\/p>\n

From this small geographical verse comes an important spiritual lesson. The Jewish \"Sabbath day\u2019s journey\" is an example of how human rules can arise even from good intentions<\/i>: to protect the commandment, make it clear, and avoid violations. But when tradition begins to replace the Word, it becomes a burden instead of a blessing.<\/p>\n

God gave the Sabbath as a gift of rest<\/b>, not as a system of calculations. Jesus wants us to enter into it with joy, not with fear of violating a human standard. Therefore, when reading the Word, it is always worth distinguishing:<\/p>\n

    The first is mandatory. The second is informative, but not mandatory to observe. Acts 1:12 does not teach us to count steps. It simply shows that the Mount of Olives is nearby.
