The Bible consistently shows that the Sabbath is specifically the seventh day, established by God Himself.<\/b> If we carefully trace the biblical story from the creation of the world to the time of Jesus, the answer becomes clear. This day is not accidental \u2014 it is blessed and sanctified by God from the very beginning<\/i>.<\/p>\nThe Sabbath was established at creation<\/h2>\n
The first mention is on the very first pages of the Bible:<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made. And He rested on the seventh day from all His work… And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it.\u201d Gen 2:2\u20133<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Three actions of God are emphasized:<\/p>\n

- He rested<\/b> on the seventh day.<\/li>\n
- He blessed<\/b> this day.<\/li>\n
- He sanctified<\/b> it \u2014 set apart for a special holy purpose.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
The Sabbath appears even before the appearance of the Jewish people<\/i> \u2014 as part of God\u2019s order for all humanity. The word \u201cSabbath\u201d comes from \u201cShabbat\u201d \u2014 \u201crest, cessation of work.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Fourth Commandment Is a Direct Instruction<\/h2>\n
When God gave the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai, He clearly indicated which day is the Sabbath:<\/p>\n
\u201cRemember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy! Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God.\u201d Exod 20:8\u201310<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Here there is no uncertainty<\/b>. God establishes a simple order of the week: six days for work, the seventh for rest and worship. The commandment explains the reason:<\/p>\n
\u201cFor in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and sanctified it.\u201d Exod 20:11<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Saturday is directly connected with the event of Creation<\/b>. Each time a person keeps the Sabbath, he or she remembers God as Creator<\/i>.<\/p>\n
The Sabbath in Jesus\u2019 Time<\/h2>\n
The Gospels confirm that the Sabbath in Christ\u2019s time was the seventh day of the week<\/b>. After Jesus\u2019 death, the disciples prepared spices, but then stopped because the Sabbath had begun:<\/p>\n
\u201cThen they returned and prepared spices and ointments. And on the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment.\u201d Luke 23:56<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The next day after the Sabbath (the first day of the week), the women came to the tomb and found that Christ had risen. The sequence is clear: day of preparation (Friday) \u2192 Sabbath \u2192 first day of the week (Sunday)<\/i>.<\/p>\n
Jesus Himself spoke about the proper understanding of the Sabbath:<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.\u201d Mark 2:27<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The Sabbath was given as a blessing for people<\/b> \u2014 a day of rest, renewal, and spiritual fellowship with God.<\/p>\n
The Sabbath as a Sign of Relationship With God<\/h2>\n
\u201cIf you turn away your foot from the Sabbath… and call the Sabbath a \u2018delight\u2019… then you shall delight yourself in the Lord.\u201d Isa 58:13\u201314<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
