These two images describe <i>different roles in one stream of God\u2019s light<\/i>: Christ is the Source, Scripture is the guide to Him, and the faithful are bearers of reflected light in a dark world.<\/p>\n<h2>The Word of God: a lamp for a specific step<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.\" <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+119:105&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ps. 119:105<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In ancient times, a traveler carried in his hand a small clay lamp\u2014it illuminated only a few steps ahead, not the whole horizon. The psalmist uses precisely this image: <b>God\u2019s Word gives as much light as is needed for the next step<\/b>. Not the whole plan for the year\u2014but clarity for today.<\/p>\n<p>Scripture gives direction in moral decisions, corrects false thinking, and reveals the character of God. Through it, the Lord speaks personally\u2014to every heart.<\/p>\n<h2>Christ is the true Source<\/h2>\n<p>But the Word of God is not the source itself\u2014it points to Him:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.\u201d <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+8:12&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John 8:12<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Christ said this\u2014\u201cI.\u201d Not \u201cMy teaching,\u201d not \u201cScripture\u201d\u2014but <i>He Himself<\/i>. Scripture leads to Him. The menorah in the sanctuary burned with oil\u2014Christ is that oil, without which the flame goes out.<\/p>\n<h2>The faithful are bearers, not the source<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cYou are the light of the world&#8230; Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father.\u201d <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Matthew+5:14-16&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Matthew 5:14\u201316<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>When Jesus says \u201cyou are the light,\u201d He does not make people <i>an alternative source<\/i>. The moon is not a star, but it reflects sunlight in the night. So it is with the faithful: they carry into the world what they have received from Christ through His Word and Spirit.<\/p>\n<p>The goal is \u201cthat they may <b>see your good works and glorify your Father<\/b>.\u201d Not you\u2014 <i>the Father<\/i>. This is the proper position of a witness: to bear the light in such a way that people see the One who stands behind it.<\/p>\n<h2>Practical meaning<\/h2>\n<p>There is no contradiction between \u201cthe Word is light\u201d and \u201cyou are light.\u201d There is one single stream:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Christ is the Source.<\/li>\n<li>Scripture is a guide to Him and His voice in the heart.<\/li>\n<li>The faithful are bearers of reflected light in daily life.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A lampstand does not burn without fire. Fire is not passed on without a lampstand. <b>Both are needed.
