In this there is both humility and trust.<\/p>\nThe image of an ancient lamp<\/h2>\n
In ancient times, a traveler carried in his hand a small clay lamp. It burned with oil and lit only a few steps ahead. The person did not see the whole road \u2014 but did not stumble or lose the way.<\/p>\n
It is exactly this image that the psalmist uses. God\u2019s Word:<\/p>\n
\u201cThe entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.\u201d Ps 119:130<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
The Word as protection from spiritual darkness<\/h2>\n

Psalm 119 is the longest psalm in the Bible, and its whole theme is God\u2019s Word. The psalmist speaks not about reading for the sake of knowledge, but about a living relationship with God through His Word<\/i>. He keeps the word in his heart (v. 11), meditates on it (v. 15), loves it (v. 97).<\/p>\n
