This is profound spiritual symbolism: God’s mercy does not abolish the Law, but works in harmony with it. Where the Law is, there grace is also.

The Golden Jar of Manna

The second item was a golden jar with manna, the wondrous food with which God fed Israel for 40 years in the wilderness:

“And Moses said, ‘Take a pot and put an omer of manna in it, and lay it up before the Lord, to be kept for your generations.’” Exod. 16:33

Manna was a reminder: God cares for the daily needs of His people. Jesus referred to this image, calling Himself “the bread which came down from heaven” (John 6:51). The manna pointed forward—to the One who is the true spiritual nourishment.

Aaron’s Rod That Budded

The third item was Aaron’s rod, which budded and bore fruit, confirming God’s choice of Aaron as high priest (Num. 17).

“...and the rod of Aaron, of the house of Levi, had sprouted and put forth buds, had produced blossoms and yielded ripe almonds.” Num. 17:8

The miracle of dead wood bearing fruit is an image of resurrection and of God-confirmed authority.
