And He Himself gave the Teacher who explains: <i>The Holy Spirit, who lives in every believer<\/i>.<\/p>\n<h2>The goal is not knowledge, but an encounter<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cSearch the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.\u201d <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+5:39&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John 5:39<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Jesus did not say, \"Search the Scriptures so that you may know the commandments\"\u2014He said, \"they testify of <b>Me<\/b>Me.\" The goal of reading the Bible is <i>to know Christ<\/i>. This changes the approach: not \"I need to read the required amount,\" but \"I want to learn more about the One who loves me.\"<\/p>\n<h2>Where to begin<\/h2>\n<p>For someone who is just starting:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>The Gospel of John<\/b> \u2014the best place to start. Clear, specific, about Christ.<\/li>\n<li><b>Psalms<\/b> \u2014the prayers of people who experienced joy, fear, despair, and found God.<\/li>\n<li><b>The letters of the apostle Paul<\/b> \u2014the practice of Christian life, an explanation of the gospel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You do not need to read from Genesis to Revelation\u2014it is better to read one book consistently and understand its context.<\/p>\n<h2>How to read in order to hear God<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.\" <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm+119:105&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ps. 119:105<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Three practical steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b>A short prayer before reading<\/b>: \"Lord, speak to my heart today.\"<\/li>\n<li><b>Read slowly<\/b>, stopping where something \"stands out\"\u2014asking questions: what does this say about God? What does it say about me?<\/li>\n<li><b>Write down one thought<\/b> \u2014even just one sentence. This helps fix what you have heard.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Regularity is more important than volume<\/p>\n<p>Daily reading of even one chapter forms a <b>spiritual rhythm<\/b>, which is more important than irregular reading of entire books.
