She did not recognize Him. This scene contains a profound lesson: <b>one can be near Christ and not realize His presence<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>Something similar can happen to a congregation. One may know the prophecies, preserve correct doctrines, follow the order of worship\u2014and at the same time \"lose sight of Christ.\" Not through betrayal, but through a gradual cooling of the living connection.<\/p>\n<h2>Christ warned about this<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\"Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.\" <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Revelation+2:4&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rev. 2:4<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The church in Ephesus from the letters of Revelation is exemplary from the doctrinal point of view: \"I know your works, your labor, your patience... and that you cannot bear those who are evil.\" But Christ still addressed it with a warning: <i>you have left your first love<\/i>. What is correct is there. What is living is not.<\/p>\n<h2>Why Christ at the center is more important than correct words<\/h2>\n<p>Doctrine is words about Christ. But a living relationship is <b>an encounter with Christ Himself<\/b>. The difference between them is the same as between reading a description of a person and meeting that person.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus said to the disciples:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\"Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.\" <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=John+15:4&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John 15:4<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\"To abide\" does not mean \"to know about Christ,\" but \"to be with Him.\" Daily, in prayer, through the Word, in worship, and in service.<\/p>\n<h2>Practical meaning<\/h2>\n<p>For the church congregation and for every believer\u2014the practical question is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is there room in my theology for <i>meetings<\/i> \u2014 or only for <i>knowledge<\/i>?<\/li>\n<li>Is my prayer a conversation, or the performance of a ritual?<\/li>\n<li>Is Christ the center of my heart, and not merely the correct answer on an exam?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Correct doctrine describes Christ. But only a living connection with Him gives strength, peace, and fruit.
