People sometimes read the Bible for years\u2014yet remain unchanged.<\/b> And sometimes one encounter with a single verse turns a person\u2019s life upside down. What is the difference? Not in the amount read\u2014but in how<\/i> and with what<\/i> a person comes to the Word.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword: piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.\u201d Heb. 4:12<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Why regularity matters<\/h2>\n

Character is formed not through one-time shocks, but through constant immersion. A person becomes like what their mind and heart live on. The one who regularly immerses themselves in God\u2019s Word gradually begins to think differently<\/b> \u2014to evaluate situations, respond to people, and set priorities.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.\u201d Rom 12:2<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Paul says: transformation begins with the renewing of the mind. And the mind is renewed through what enters it. Regular Bible reading is one of the main channels of this renewal.<\/p>\n

How the Word changes us in practical ways<\/h2>\n

  • It reveals what God is like<\/b> \u2014and when you see Him more clearly, the picture of your own condition also becomes more realistic.<\/li>\n
  • It exposes patterns of thought<\/b> \u2014fears, resentments, false beliefs that we carry for years.<\/li>\n
  • It gives hope<\/b> \u2014not general hope, but specific hope: promises that speak to the real situation of a real person.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    How to read in order to receive<\/h2>\n

    • Start with prayer: \u201cLord, speak to me through Your Word today.\u201d<\/li>\n
    • Read slowly, without trying to cover a large amount.<\/li>\n
    • When something \u201ccatches\u201d you\u2014pause. That is exactly where the Holy Spirit is speaking personally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      The Bible changes not those who read it correctly, but those who read it openly.
