It hides in everyday situations\u2014and that is exactly where it should be sought in conversation.<\/p>\n<h2>Where pride really lives<\/h2>\n<p>Here are several situations you can use to start the conversation:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>On social media:<\/b> you sent a message\u2014and they read it but did not reply. What do you feel? Where might pride be here?<\/li>\n<li><b>In conflict:<\/b> you know that you were wrong too \u2014 but you wait for the other person to apologize first. Why is it so hard to take the first step?<\/li>\n<li><b>By comparison:<\/b> you found out that someone you know received what you wanted. What happens inside you?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These situations reveal pride where it truly lives \u2014 not in theory, but in the heart.<\/p>\n<h2>What Scripture says<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\"Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.\" <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Proverbs+16%3A18&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Proverbs 16:18<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Solomon writes this not to frighten, but to warn. <b>Pride destroys relationships and closes the heart to God and to people.<\/b> Jesus\u2019 parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector shows two extremes: a person with a long list of achievements and a person who came with empty hands. It is the second who goes away justified.<\/p>\n<h2>How to build the conversation<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Begin not with a definition of pride, but with a situation \u2014 real or familiar.<\/li>\n<li>Ask: \u201cWhat do you feel at that moment?
