But the tent is not the only thing a person has. Behind it stands something else.<\/p>\n<h2>Second image: a house from heaven \u2014 the new resurrection body<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cA building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal\u201d \u2014 this is not a vague spiritual reality. Paul is speaking about <b>a new resurrection body<\/b>, which God will give to the faithful. It is not \u201ca spirit without a body\u201d \u2014 it is a new, transformed mode of existence, in which the body will correspond to eternity.<\/p>\n<h2>Third image: being clothed \u2014 not unclothed, but fullness<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cFor in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven.\u201d <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=2+Corinthians+5%3A2&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2 Cor. 5:2<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Paul describes this longing not as a desire to \u201cget out of the body,\u201d but as a desire <b>to put something on over it<\/b> \u2014 to be fully \u201cclothed\u201d in the new reality of the resurrection. He describes death as \u201cunclothing\u201d (an intermediate state), while resurrection is \u201cbeing clothed with the heavenly.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Practical meaning<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The present body is temporary. But a person is not only a body. Behind him stands God\u2019s promise of something new and eternal.<\/li>\n<li>The suffering and weakness of the body are not the final truth about a person.<\/li>\n<li>The hope of the resurrection is not an escape from reality, but its deepest acceptance: this reality is temporary, but God is eternal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Paul\u2019s three images together say one thing: you live in a tent \u2014 but God is preparing a house for you.
