He gives the righteousness of Christ to those who believe.<\/p>\n<p>Luther wrote: \u201cI felt that I was born again and that I had entered through the open gates of paradise.\u201d This is not an exaggeration. It is a description of the inner upheaval of a man who had lived for years in fear of God\u2014and suddenly discovered that He came to save him, not to condemn him.<\/p>\n<h2>Why this is so important<\/h2>\n<p>Luther\u2019s discovery is not a theological subtlety. It is a practical change in understanding <b>who God is and how a person comes to Him.<\/b> If righteousness is my achievement, I live in fear and self-reliance. If righteousness is a gift through faith, I live in gratitude and openness.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cTherefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.\u201d <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Romans+5%3A1&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rom 5:1<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Practical meaning<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Are you living in fear before God\u2014as before a judge waiting for a mistake?
