Its root is connected with the idea of <b>wholeness, completeness, with nothing excessive or lacking<\/b>. Not merely a \u201ccessation of hostility,\u201d but the restoration of full order in relationships, health, society, and spiritual life. When Jesus gives shalom, He restores the wholeness that sin destroyed.<\/p>\n<h2>\u05e9\u05b7\u05c1\u05d1\u05b8\u05bc\u05ea (shabbat) \u2014 a conscious entering into God\u2019s rest<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThere remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God.\u201d <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews+4:9&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heb 4:9<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><i>Shabbat<\/i> \u2014 the root means \u201cto stop, to cease.\u201d But this is not simply the absence of work. It is <b>an affirmation: God finished the work, and it is good<\/b>. The Sabbath is a weekly reminder: my rest is based not on my achievements, but on the completed work of the Creator.<\/p>\n<p>Hebrews 4 reinterprets this idea for the New Testament: true Sabbath rest is trust in the completed work of Christ, not in our own efforts.<\/p>\n<h2>\u03b5\u1f30\u03c1\u03ae\u03bd\u03b7 (eirene) \u2014 peace that surpasses understanding<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAnd the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.\u201d <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Philippians+4:7&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Phil 4:7<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Greek <i>eirene<\/i> \u2014 is the translation of shalom in the New Testament context.
