And a person\u2019s spiritual growth is inseparable from his or her participation in that community.<\/p>\n<h2>God created human beings for fellowship<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\"It is not good that the man should be alone.\" <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Genesis+2:18&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gen. 2:18<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is not only about marriage. It is about the fundamental nature of the human person: we are created for relationships. <b>Loneliness is not a spiritual virtue<\/b>, if it is chosen as a way to avoid responsibility toward brothers and sisters.<\/p>\n<h2>Fellowship is a means of spiritual growth<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the habit of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.\" <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Hebrews+10:25&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heb. 10:25<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\"Exhorting one another\"\u2014the Greek word <i>parakalountes<\/i>: to support, to call alongside, to encourage. Spiritual growth happens in <b>both directions<\/b>: you receive from the congregation and you give to it. Isolation deprives both.<\/p>\n<h2>Community protects against spiritual decline<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\"Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.\" <cite><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Proverbs+27:17&amp;version=UKR\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prov. 27:17<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Spiritual \"sharpening\"\u2014growth, maturity, refinement of character\u2014happens through <b>living relationships with other believers<\/b>. Solitary prayer is important. But a living brother or sister who speaks the truth in love is irreplaceable.<\/p>\n<h2>Practical meaning<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Regular presence in the congregation is not an \"obligation\" but nourishment for the soul.<\/li>\n<li>Deep fellowship (not just exchanging greetings) is a mark of a healthy church.<\/li>\n<li>The one who shuts himself off from the community \"to be more spiritual\" actually deprives himself of the most powerful means of growth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>God lives in community\u2014the Father, the Son, and the Spirit.
