Prayer for protection from temptation is not a sign of weak faith. On the contrary, it testifies to spiritual maturity and understanding.<\/b> Scripture repeatedly calls for such prayer \u2014 and this is heard most clearly from the lips of Jesus Himself.<\/p>\n

Jesus\u2019 call: watch and pray<\/h2>\n

Jesus said this in the Garden of Gethsemane\u2014at the most intense moment before His suffering. The disciples fell asleep. He did not condemn them\u2014He explained: prayer is a weapon, not an option<\/b>. Without it, the spirit is left alone with the \u201cweak flesh.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Lord's Prayer<\/h2>\n

\u201cAnd do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.\u201d Matt. 6:13<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
