Revelation 10 is a \u201creview\u201d before the seventh trumpet, a moment when the prophet receives a specific assignment.<\/b> The symbolism of the chapter is extraordinarily rich. Let us examine the key images.<\/p>\n

The mighty angel in the cloud<\/h2>\n

\u201cI saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was upon his head.\u201d Rev. 10:1<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The cloud in Scripture is a symbol of the Divine presence (Ex. 19:9). The rainbow is the sign of the Covenant (Gen. 9:13). This angel is the messenger of God\u2019s Covenant<\/b>, filled with His glory. Many scholars see here an image of Christ Himself or an angel representing Him.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe angel said to me, Take it and eat it; it will make your stomach bitter, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey.\u201d Rev. 10:9<\/a><\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Seventh-day Adventists connect this with the experience of 1844: the gospel first seemed like the \u201csweet\u201d news of the soon coming\u2014and became \u201cbitter\u201d after the disappointment. But even then God said: \u201cYou must prophesy again\u201d<\/b> (Rev. 10:11).<\/p>\n
